Original Watercolor Nautilus Antique Oval Frame Wood Art size: 8”x10” Frame outer dimensions: approx: 11”x13” The chambered nautilus is a complex and beautiful creature. They move through ocean waters with jet propulsion. They can have as many as 90 arms which use an adhesive like substance to grab and devour. The coolest thing about them is their buoyancy mechanism. They have chambers in their gorgeous spiral shell which are filled with a mixture of gas and seawater. The ability to change the pressure in these chambers enables them to rise and fall in the water. These little submarines are fascinating in the ways that they move and survive in the deep. This gorgeous and slightly creepy creature has been captured in this watercolor in lifelike neutral tones. The antique frame is a solid wood oval made in Maine. How wonderful to have a piece of nautical Maine art framed in a made in Maine frame. The hefty moulding of the frame is more than 2 inches deep. This painting is sold framed with the antique oval frame as seen in the photos! The frame has signs of age and wear typical with an item of its age. However it is in excellent condition for its age. I have installed a modern brass hanging hardware on the back so that your art is ready to hang. Your painting will be carefully and beautifully wrapped to ensure safe shipping. For larger pieces as this one I do use recycled boxes if needed for shipping. Of course, SHIPPING is FREE within the US. Please be aware: the colors you see on your screen may differ slightly from the original painting. However, I find that the original art usually holds more dimension and detail than the photo.     I do not do accept returns at this time. I take effort to accurately represent what I sell and do not filter or edit my photos to change or enhance the art. Please do not purchase unless you love it. Please understand that the frames that I choose are vintage or antique and will have signs of age. This is what I think is so beautiful about them. If you are not into the story that patina tells, an antique frame may not be for you. I do want you to be delighted and thrilled with your purchase. If you are not sure about something- just ask! I'm happy to send more photos or measurements. Please feel free to contact me if something arrives damaged, or otherwise not as expected. I will do my very best to communicate with you and make the situation right if I can.
